List of all known interpreted DTCs from '96-'98 850/S70/V70/C70/XC70 ECUs
that are KWPD3B0-conversant
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- The following EE01 responses were constructed input to force the
-- KWPD3B0 interpreter to list the DTCs in an easy to read format.
-- This is an accurate representation of how the KWPD3B0 interpreter at
http://jonesrh.info/volvo850/kwpd3b0_interpreter.html translates the
2 hex digit raw DTC code sent from the ECUs into the 3-digit Volvo DTC code
that the Volvo world discusses (as of the date of this document).
However, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY **NO** GUARANTEE THAT THE 2-DIGIT RAW TO
3-DIGIT VOLVO DTC INTERPRETATIONS SHOWN BELOW ACCURATELY REFLECT THE
CORRECT MEANING OF THE RAW DTC CODE!!! This is simply our best attempt
at understanding them with the limited resources available.
So, DIYer, feel free to use them as a guide, but do not consider them
as an authoritative guide. We have no idea how well they correlate with
the DTCs declared by an official Volvo VST tool (or a VST-lookalike tool).
Determining their accuracy is left as the proverbial "exercise for the reader".
-- Below, the 2 digits before the " -> " are the hex digits representing
the 1-byte raw DTC code, and the next 3 digits seen on that line
(after the " -> " and after the mnemonic for the ECU and subsequent hyphen)
are the commonly referred to Volvo DTC code.
As an example, let's use the 2nd DTC below:
ECU 51 DTC 02 -> CI-221 -- Vehicle Speed Signal missing
That CI-221 might be referred to in Volvo literature as: CI-221, CI221,
simply 221 (in the context of a discussion on the COMBI), or 2-2-1
(as was used to designate how the codes appeared on the 1995 850
when the under-the-hood DTC reading tool was used).
If the COMBI has 1 single DTC, and it is for "Vehicle Speed Signal missing",
then the raw hex code 02 is sent back from the COMBI ECU in the
following response (as viewed by an ELM327, including both the AE01
request and the EE01 positive ack response to AE01).
>AE01
84 13 51 EE 01 02 D9

(and only)
DTC
in this
response
If the COMBI has 2 DTCs, one for "Vehicle Speed Signal missing" and
one for when the Fuel Level has gotten sufficiently low,
then the raw hex codes 02 and 05 would be sent back from the COMBI ECU
in the following response (as viewed by an ELM327, including both the AE01
request and the EE01 positive ack response to AE01).
>AE01

1st 2nd
DTC DTC
The KWPD3B0 interpreter interprets that as:
>AE01
85 13 51 EE 01 02 05 DF
------ ECU 51 has 2 DTCs: 02 05
------ ECU 51 DTC #1: 02 -> CI-221 -- Vehicle Speed Signal missing [usually due to bad ABS module solders] [P0500].
------ ECU 51 DTC #2: 05 -> CI-113 -- Low Fuel / Fuel Level signal interrupted.
Note that the interpretation for CI-221 has been enhanced to show what
OBDII emission diagnostic Pxxxx code may also appear simultaneous with
the CI-221 code. Note that the P0500 code can be read by most any typical
OBDII emission diagnostics scanning tool, whereas the CI-221 and CI-113
COMBI codes must be read by some scanning tool which has knowledge of the
KWPD3B0 protocol (which sometimes might be referred to as Volvo D2 protocol).
